Council’s gritting service to be deployed tonight and again tomorrow morning

WITH temperatures continuing to dip below freezing and some parts of the county experiencing falls of snow and sleet this afternoon, Donegal County Council’s gritting service will be in operation this evening once again from 6pm.

And with more freezing conditions forecast overnight, the gritting service will be back out again on all main routes from 6am on Tuesday.

According to Met Éireann there will be widespread frost and ice tonight with lowest temperatures of -3 to 0 degrees.

We can expect another cold day tomorrow with some sunshine and further scattered showers, some wintry.

Commuters had to deal with some dangerous driving conditions this morning with black ice reported on many minor routes around the country.

And while schools reopened today without much impact from the weather, getting children to school wasn’t so straightforward with a number of school bus runs delayed because of dangerous driving conditions.
