DONEGAL County Council’s road gritting service will be treating all designated roads in the county from 5pm this evening, Christmas Day and again from 6am on St Stephen’s Day morning.
Another cold night is in store with Met Éireann forecasting temperatures as low as -2 degrees tonight.
The gritting service was also deployed on Wednesday evening (Christmas Eve) and again first thing on Christmas Day.
There was heavy frost across Donegal on Christmas morning with overnight temperatures dipping well below freezing.
Met Eireann say tonight will be cold, dry and mostly clear, with patches of mist and fog forming in a light to moderate east to northeast breeze. Lowest temperatures of -2 to +2 degrees, with frost and ice forming on untreated surfaces.
Tomorrow, St. Stephen’s Day, will be dry and sunny. It will be cold, with highest temperatures of 4 to 7 degrees and mainly light to moderate east to northeast winds.
