Councillors off to Germany for St Patrick’s Day

THE Cathaoirleach of Letterkenny-Milford Municipal District Council will be jetting to Germany to take part in St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in the town of Rudolstadt.

Cllr Gerry McMonagle will be joined by Cllr Donal Coyle, who has been nominated to attend as well, in place of Cllr Ciaran Brogan, the Leas-Cathaoirleach, who has prior commitments.

The German town is twinned with Letterkenny and recently the council received an invite for the March 17 event.

Back in 2018, a delegation of 40 people from Rudolstadt visited Letterkenny for a weekend of cultural activities and ceremonies, following the official signing of the Town Twinning Agreement.

According to 2022 census figures, Rudolstadt had a population of just over 22,000 people, broadly similar to that of Letterkenny.
