Councillor queries planning permission

A LOCAL councillor has queried how a developer has got planning permission to build two houses while there were issues with estates around the town.
Independent Cllr Tom Crossan, raised his concerns at Monday night’s Town Council meeting.

Planners have given P.J.McDermott, Bohillon, Burt, planning permission to build two houses at Sallaghgrane, College Farm Road.
However, Cllr Crossan, said he had concerns given the developer had had problems.
Mayor Dessie Lårkin, concerned around the legalities of the issue, appealed to the councillor to contain his comments to a ‘general policy’ as opposed to a specific developer.
Cllr Crossan then asked what the council’s policy on the issue around developers seeking planning permission while there were issues outstanding.
Town Clerk, Mr Paddy Doherty, agreed to raise the concerns expressed by Cllr Crossan with the planners and report back at a future meeting.
