Council urging owners of second homes to pay NPPR charge

DONEGAL County Council is urging all property owners who have yet to pay their NPPR liability, to register and pay the charge before September 1, 2014.

The NPPR charge was payable for the years 2009 – 2013 on a residential property that was not a Principal Private Residence in County Donegal.

Garry Martin, Director of Finance with Donegal County Council has stated that the principal charge and late penalty fees for the years 2009 to 2013 is now €4,220.

“From March 2, 2014, no new late payment penalties have been applied to the amount of €4,220 that is outstanding, however, from September , 2014, the amount of €4,220 will increase to €7,230 and will remain frozen at this amount”.

Mr Martin is urging all property owners who have yet to register and pay their NPPR liability to do so before the August 31.

He added “Donegal County Council is actively identifying property owners who may have a NPPR liability using data provided by the Revenue Commissioners and we will be pursuing these outstanding charges”.
