Council to address Sprackburn Drive parking issues

A clampdown on illegal parking in the Sprackburn Drive area of Letterkenny is on the way.

At Tuesday’s meeting of Letterkenny-Milford Municipal District Council, Cllr. Jimmy Kavanagh (pictured) said he had been approached by a number of residents about on-going issues in the area, namely parking on double yellow lines and also blocking entrances. He said that the situation could potentially lead to problems for the emergency services gaining access to the cul-de-sac. “We need to see enforcement in this area,” he said.

Supporting his call for the Council to address the ongoing parking issues, Cllr. Gerry McMonagle said there was “ample parking” in the area. The Tadhg Culbert car park is just across the road and costs 50 cent to park in. Sprackburn Drive is just off the High Road and is beside Letterkenny Credit Union.

Senior Executive Roads Engineer David McIlwaine told the meeting that there will be an increase in the amount of visits to the area by traffic wardens.
