DONEGAL County Council’s Budget meeting has been adjourned for the second time this afternoon as councillors have failed to reach an agreement.
At the last budget meeting councillors refused to support a 5% increase in commercial rates.
Earlier this afternoon party whips met from 12pm to 2.30pm but failed to come to an agreement.
The meeting has been adjourned now until 4pm and Independent councillors who have expressed interest in contributing to the debate have been invited to join the discussions.
Cathaoirleach Gerry McMonagle said he is “hopeful” they can come to an agreement.
Today is the last working day for the budget to be passed and if an agreement is not reached discussions could go into the weekend as the final date set by Govenrment is Sunday.
