DONEGAL County Council’s gritting service will be treating designated routes this evening and again first thing on Tuesday morning.
The council say all Donegal Winter Maintenance designated gritting routes will be gritted from 7pm this Monday evening.
The routes will also be gritted from 6am on Tuesday.
Many parts of the county are experiencing heavy downpours this afternoon with light snow showers reported in some areas.
It comes after much of Donegal awoke to a blanket of heavy frost on Saturday morning with heavy snowfalls in many parts of the county on Saturday afternoon.
According to Met Éireann tonight will be cold and generally dry and clear with just a few isolated showers. Any showers may turn wintry on high ground.
There will be widespread frost and some icy patches will develop with lowest temperatures of -3 to 0 degrees.
It will be a cold day tomorrow with frost and any ice lingering for a time during the morning.
