WITH another forecasted drop in temperatures, Donegal County Council’s gritting service will be in operation tonight.
The council say all designated Donegal Winter Maintenance Routes will be gritted from 9pm.
The gritters will be deployed again from 6am on Wednesday.
According to Met Éireann it will be cold and breezy tonight with clear spells and scattered showers. Some of the showers will be heavy and wintry with hail and sleet, and possibly some snow too, especially about higher ground.
Lowest temperatures of -1 to 3 degrees are forecast with some frost and icy patches in moderate to fresh and gusty northerly winds, stronger along exposed coasts.
Motorists have been asked to drive with care, and to assume that no road is ice free.
