THE public are being urged not to travel during the Orange wind warning unless absolutely necessary.
In a statement issued this evening, Donegal County Council are reminding people that the Orange Wind Warning remains in place in Donegal until 10pm tonight followed by a Yellow Wind Warning until 12 noon tomorrow, Saturday.
“There are reports of multiple trees down across the county, blocking or partially blocking our roads,” a council spokesperson said.
“Our crews are now re-mobilising and dealing with blockages on arterial routes on a priority basis this evening. The clean up will continue again tomorrow morning where necessary.
“The public are reminded not to travel during Orange warning period unless absolutely necessary and of the danger posed by fallen power lines.”

This evening thousands of homes and businesses are without power across Donegal.
The Council’s normal out-of-hours emergency 074 91 72288 for our Road Service/Housing Department is in operation. For emergencies requiring the assistance of the Fire Service call 999 or 112.
The public are asked to keep up to date with the current weather warnings and in particular any change in the status warning for their area.
