DONEGAL County Council has adjourned its July meeting in Lifford this morning as a tribute to the late Manus Kelly.
Yesterday marked one month since Mr Kelly lost his life while participating in the Donegal International Rally.
Sympathies were paid from across the political spectrum this morning and announcing his intention to adjourn until this afternoon, Cathaoirleach Nicholas Crossan said the 41-year-old would be fondly remembered.
Councillor Crossan said, “I did not know Manus very long but the time I got to spend with him, I really enjoyed and I was looking forward to getting to know him better.
“When I opened the book of condolence following his death, I said that there was nothing I could say and nothing I could that had not already been done because what the people of Donegal did, I have never seen a greater tribute paid to a to friend, a father, a husband, son and a brother.
“We are going to miss him and all we can do is pray that his family and friends find the strength to cope with their loss.”
The meeting will reconvene at 2pm.
