Convoy man jailed for attacking taxi driver is fined for drugs

A CONVOY man, who is currently serving a two-year jail sentence for attacking a taxi driver with a slash hook, has been fined €350 on a drugs charge.

Dean Kelly was found with a quantity of cocaine valued at €70.

Defendant had one previous conviction for a drug offence, Letterkenny District Court was told.

Kelly, with an address at The Green, Main Street, had been sentenced earlier this month at Letterkenny Circuit Court on the charge of striking a taxi driver with the slash hook in Convoy on August 13, 2022.

He faced the drug charge on a separate date.

Judge Ciaran Liddy imposed a fine of  €350 on the cocaine offence when the case came up at Monday’s sitting of Letterkenny District Court.
