THE burial has taken place in Letterkenny this afternoon of convicted paedophile Liam Adams, brother of Sinn Fein TD and former party leader Gerry Adams.
The 63-year old had been receiving care for terminal cancer at a Belfast hospice after being removed from Maghaberry prison where has been incarcerated for the last six years. He passed away on Monday, February 25.
It is understood that the burial took place in Letterkenny as this is where the late Mr Adams’s partner resides. The burial in Conwal Graveyard is believed to have taken place around lunchtime today (Friday) with only a small number of people in attendance.
In 2013 Liam Adams was found guilty of raping and abusing his daughter, Aine Dahlstrom, and was jailed for 16 years. He was moved to the medical facility earlier this year for end of life care.
The Prison Service of Northern Ireland confirmed Liam Adams had passed away in a statement on February 25 in which they said: “The prisoner died on Monday morning” and added “As with standard procedure, the PSNI and Prisoner Ombudsman have been informed”.
