THE young Loughanure man who was in a coma for the past fortnight following a car accident near London has has died. Conor Boyle (18), died this morning (Friday) at around 10am.

Conor’s parents Hugh and Sheila had been at his bedside at the Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge since the accident on September 8.

He had been travelling home to Doncaster from work on a tunnelling contract in Surrey when the accident happened at around 2.30am. Conor, the third eldest in a family of six, had been working in London since finishing his Leaving Cert in June.

Speaking to the Donegal News his grand-uncle, Hugh Rodgers, said the family were ‘distraught’.

“The word just came through at around 10am. He put up a great fight, but God wanted him more,” a heartbroken Hugh said.

“Conor, was such a lively, bubbly and popular lad. The family have been overwhelmed by the thousands of messages of support and prayers for him over the past fortnight,” he added.

His life support was switched off this morning and passed away some 20-25 minutes later.
