SERIOUS concerns have been expressed over the future of the Aras Ghaoth Dobhair nursing home.
It is understood the home is losing up to €80,000 per year and the 50 staff members there have been asked by management to take a five per cent pay cut.
SIPTU representative Mr Declan Ferry said this was not possible as he claimed it would result in a large number of staff being paid less than the statutory minimum wage.
This argument, however, is being denied by management of the 41-bed private facility.
The home is privately run by a board of management and funded by the HSE.
Mr Ferry said the home was clearly “in turmoil” and called on the HSE to take over the running of the facility.
