Community group organise movie screening in Anagaire

A LOCAL voluntary organisation in Anagaire has launched a new initiative aimed at fostering connection and providing entertainment for local residents.

Scioból an Phobail, based in Mín na Craoibhe, has been a cornerstone of the community for several years.  Their latest project, Sú agus Scannán, is set to offer a mid-week experience for those who may be retired or not currently working.

The event will feature classic films alongside a warm bowl of soup, providing attendees with both entertainment and an opportunity to socialise with other community members.

The event will take place on Tuesday, March 11 at 1pm with a classic film ‘Fargo’.

Cllr Micheal Choilm Mac Giolla Easbuig, who has been a strong supporter of the organisation since its founding, has encouraged local residents to take part.

“It’s a great opportunity for those who aren’t working or are retired to come and meet other people and enjoy a nice bowl of hot soup while watching classic movies,” said Cllr Mac Giolla Easbuig.

Sú agus Scannán adds to the diverse range of events hosted by Scioból an Phobail, which has previously organised solidarity gatherings focused on important local and social issues.

The organisation hosts a variety of programs for different age groups, including youth drop-in centres, children’s cinema nights, and cooking classes.

They also offer events focusing on men’s health, which includes a weekly drop-in service every Friday, creating a space where members of the community can gather and find support.
