Communited-based emergency hubs to provide essential services after storm

DONEGAL County Council in association with a number of community partners have arranged for the opening of a number of community-based emergency hubs across the county to address the needs of the most vulnerable in our communities who remain without electricity and water in the aftermath of Storm Amy.
These hubs/centres will provide basic essential services to members of their communities who are in need of same.
A council spokesperson said: “To date, the response from community groups across the county has been remarkable. We have eight centres who have responded in a positive way to this request and have made their facilities available.”

Donegal Civil Defence in association with Donegal County Council, are also available to provide essential services, such as collecting / delivering groceries, fuel, meals on wheels or medications to the vulnerable in the community during this period of Electricity outage and inclement weather. Transport assistance can also be provided to persons requiring urgent medical interventions such as dialysis, cancer care treatments etc.
Meanwhile, people are asked to check in on vulnerable neighbours to ensure they are safe and have access to essential services and if anyone is in need of assistance, please contact Donegal Civil Defence through the local call centre which will be open again for calls on Sunday from 9am to 4.30pm on 074 9153900.
The normal out-of-hours emergency 074 91 72288 for the council’s Road Service/Housing Department will be in operation outside of these hours. For emergencies requiring the assistance of the Fire Service call 999 or 112.
