GARDA Commissioner Justin Kelly is to be invited to a future meeting of the newly formed Donegal Local Community Safety Partnerships (LCSPs).
The Donegal LCSP met in November for the first time, formally beginning its inception locally following the disbanding of the former Donegal Joint Policing Committee (JPC) late last year to make way for the new government initiative.
DELAY
Councillor Gerry McMonagle, the former chairman of Donegal JPC, had previously said the delay in rolling out the new LCSP in Donegal was “hugely concerning”, given a number of sexually motivated attacks against women in Letterkenny and the north west last year.
Speaking to the Donegal News, Chairman of Donegal LCSP Cllr McMonagle confirmed Garda Commissioner Justin Kelly is to be invited to the county. He said top of the agenda is the development of a community safety action plan.
“As chairperson, I look forward to the challenges ahead, and to facilitating and leading out on the discussions to help formulate the Community Safety Action Plan for Donegal,” he said.
