Donegal 1-17
Armagh 0-09
Donegal Under 20s got their Ulster Championship campaign off the mark with a comprehensive 11-point win over Armagh in Ballybofey this evening.
The visitors put it up to Gary Duffy’s men inside the opening quarter and the sides were deadlocked at 0-3 each after the Orchard lads had taken an early two-point lead. However, with the likes of Ryan McFadden, Padraig McGettigan and Johnny McGroddy all on target, and with Eoin Dowling rattling the net; it was the hosts that departed at the break with a commanding 1-8 to 0-4 lead.
Donegal again bossed the second period with the likes of Rory O’Donnell, Shane O’Donnell and Caolan McColgan all adding further points. McGettigan could have added a second goal for Donegal but Shea McGill in the away nets produced an excellent stop. And while the St Eunan’s lad had another chance with the follow-up he blazed over the bar.
Donegal now advance to the quarter-finals with a clash w Tyrone next on the agenda.
