Rickie Gallen will miss this week’s game
SEOSAMH Mac Ceallbhuí says a collective shift in attitude has helped to create a buzz around the Red Hughs club.
Mac Ceallbhuí has returned to the Red Hughs hotseat this season for his second stint in charge.
The Naomh Conaill clubman led the Killygordon club to promotion from Division 4 in 2016, before becoming joint-manager of Truagh Gaels in Monaghan last year, along with current Sligo bainisteoir, Cathal Corey.
He has been coaxed back to Pairc Aodh Rua this season, and is very impressed with the direction the club is taking. They will be hoping to pick up two more points when they travel to face Killybegs on Saturday.
“I had no hesitation in getting back involved. I would know a lot of people around the Cross, and they are good people.
“Joe Carlin was in charge last year, and he had to step down this season, but he is still giving me a hand, and that’s probably the big difference this time around, there’s six or seven men helping out.
“When I was there before, I was on my own, and Gary Kelly would have helped gathering footballs and such.
“But there’s a real change in attitude now. Damian Wilson has really grabbed the club by the scruff of the neck, and has put in proper structures.
“When I was there before, we could have trained pretty much at any time of the week.
“Now, there are underage games and training going on, there are ladies matches, in fact the pitch is nearly getting worn there’s that much happening.
“Two years ago, I had a key to open up and then lock up after training, but I haven’t had to use it once this year, because there’s always something going on.
“People are investing their time into the club, and that is creating a feel-good factor.”
