It is advantage Finn Harps, after they claimed a narrow first leg victory against UCD in the First Division play-off at Belfield tonight.
Ciaran Coll’s goal after only 24 seconds was enough to give Harps a hard-fought win.
Ollie Horgan’s men had a goal disallowed in the second half when Tony McNamee’s long throw bounced into the net.
The visitors did endure some nervous moments late on, and their goalkeeper Ciaran Gallagher was forced to make a brilliant save from Jack Watson in the 88th minute.
However, Harps held on to claim victory, much to the delight of their large contingent of travelling supporters. The sides will meet again in the second leg at Finn Park next Friday.
