Republic of Ireland Head Coach Heimir Hallgrímsson has omitted Seamus Coleman from his 23-man squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifying matches against Hungary and Armenia.
Ireland are set to welcome Hungary to the Aviva Stadium for the opening game of the campaign on Saturday, September 6.
They will then travel to Yerevan to face Armenia on Tuesday, September 9.
Coleman, 36, is fit and has been an unused sub in Everton’s first two matches in the Premier League this season.
However, Hallgrímsson informed the Killybegs man that he wouldn’t be involved, citing his lack of game time over the last 12 months.
Coleman featured in Hallgrímsson’s first game in charge but hasn’t played for the International team since.
Former Letterkenny Rovers player James Abankwah, who plays his club football with Watford, also misses out.
