THERE were packed streets in Dungloe on Easter Sunday for the annual marching band parade and competition.
Among the competitors was Cloughaneely Junior Band who showcased an amazing display of Disney music including tunes like Beauty and the Beast, Part of this World, The Lion King and Under the Sea.
The band features 27 members playing a variety of instruments such as tin whistle, accordion and percussion.
The audience was entertained throughout their outstanding performance and the judges remarked on the high level of skill and talent on display.
The band was led by band leader Aoife Doyle who commanded and led the band with a brilliant performance from start to finish.
Music judge Trudy O’ Donnell remarked on the bands great use of dynamics, harmonies and transitions between tunes.
The judges also emphasised the importance of practice and it was evident how much effort was put into Cloughaneely’s superb display of music and marching.
The band has a busy programme of events to prepare for in the coming months.
They will travel to Paris in July to take part in the Disneyland parade.
While there, they will perform to audiences of thousands and will showcase their Disney routine as well as their traditional Fleadh programme.
The band are reigning All-Ireland champions in Fleadh Cheoil na h-Eireann and will travel to Wexford in August to retain their All Ireland title.
Their next performance will be on the April 20 when they will join forces with the Cloughaneely Senior Band to play in Celtic Park where Donegal take on Derry in the opening round of the championship.
This will be another wonderful opportunity for the band to perform for large crowds in attendance.
