AN event to encourage people to recycle their old clothes will be held in Killygordon next week.
The Finn Valley Guild of the Irish Countrywomen’s Association will be hosting a workshop on zero waste by reusing older clothing into new items. e.g. old jeans into gardening aprons or reusing old knitting items into new chemo bags for use in the Donegal Hospice.
The event will start at 11am on Tuesday, October 14, at The Cake Centre in Killygordon.
Admission is free and attendees will learn basic sewing, knitting and crochet skills.
A spokesperson for the organisers said reusing resources encourages a sense of community and collaboration.
“Sharing tools, appliances, and clothes can help people connect, reduce costs, and share skills or knowledge.
“Earlier research has shown that attendees will feel that Together We will Thrive with focus on local culture and unity.
“Reusing items can reduce our carbon footprint and conserve resources. Explore the benefits of reuse and practical tips to incorporate it into daily life.”
