Clonmany hit and run victim to be laid to rest today

A MAN who died following an alleged hit-and-run in Clonmany on Sunday, May 12, will be laid to rest today in St Columba’s Church graveyard, Drumoghill.

Mr James (Jimmy) Devine of Drummucklagh, Raphoe, tragically died when he was struck by a vehicle which then left the scene.

He was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital before being transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.

He died from his injuries on Wednesday, May 15.

A man in his 30s was later arrested and charged in relation to the incident.

He appeared before Letterkenny District Court on Monday, May 13.

Funeral prayers took place at Mr Devine’s home today, May 23 at 11am, which will be followed by burial in St Columba’s Church graveyard, Drumoghill.

Mr Devine is predeceased by his mother Mary Ellen and father Hugh.

James (Jimmy) will be forever loved and cherished by his heart broken partner Patricia, daughters AnneMarie (Alan), Michaelina (Aidan), Tina (Thomas), Briege (Ryan) grandchildren Caitlin, Thomas, Conor, Kerry, Amelia, Ella, Emily, Jack, Darragh, Cillian and Harry. James will be sadly missed by his brothers Daniel and Hugo, sisters Patricia, Bernie and Annette, the wider family circle neighbours and friends.
