COUNCILLOR Frank McBrearty has left the Labour Party it emerged at today’s meeting of Donegal County Council.

Mayor Ian McGarvey made the announcement at the start of the monthly meeting in Lifford

While it is believed Cllr McBrearty has become disillusioned with politics, he has declined to make any further comment on his departure from the Labour Party.

He was elected to Donegal County Council in 2009 as a Labour candidate.
