COUNCILLOR Ciaran Brogan was unanimously elected chair of the Regional Health Forum West today at their AGM in Galway.
Mayo based Cllr Cllr Michael Kilcoyne was elected vice-chairperson.
Cllr Brogan told the gathered members it was both “an honour and privilege that all members supported my nomination here today”.
He added that he was very familiar with the work of the Forum and has been proud to have been part of it over the years.
“It is one of the best forums with all work done to benefit our own areas and issues.
“The people at the top table, (the executive), are here to help you and do so,” he added.
“Not an easy thing to come down here from Donegal after Sunday but I want to pay tribute to the Galway team and their supporters.
Cllr Gerry McMonagle, a former chair congratulated Cllr Brogan adding “I know you will do a good job, you are experienced and well respected”.
Tributes were paid to outgoing chair Cllr Donagh Killilea.
