A climber was rescued yesterday after suffering a leg injury on Mount Errigal.
The alarm was raised shortly before 5pm and members of the Donegal Mountain Rescue Team responded to the call-out.
“The team call out coordinators utilised the PhoneFind system to precisely locate the casualty. The location data was received by 17:01, allowing for an immediate and efficient response,” said a spokesperson for the rescue team.
“A full team call-out was initiated, and 12 DMRT members began to arrive at the RV. The hasty team reached the casualty at approximately 18:51, confirming the lower leg injury and commencing initial treatment by immobilising the affected limb.
“Once stabilised, the team undertook the challenging process of transporting the casualty from the 600-metre contour line down to the car park at Errigal.
“The handover to National Ambulance Service paramedics occurred at 21:20.
“The casualty was subsequently transported to Letterkenny for further medical treatment. We stood down at 22:30. We wish the casualty a speedy recovery,” added the spokesperson.
