CLEAN up operations are getting under way in many parts of Donegal this morning following a night of heavy flooding.

Inishowen appears to have borne the brunt of the devastation with several roads still impassable.

Donegal County Council is advising of a number of bridge collapses, including from Quigley’s Point to Carndonagh where the road remains closed and the Cockhill Bridge which is closed while assessments for damage carried out.

A spokesperson for the local authority said, “Take care this morning when travelling on secondary routes. Extensive damage to road network after flooding. We are assessing damage at present.”
