OVER 60 members of the St Eunan’s College Leaving Cert class of 1990 met up again at a special 35th anniversary reunion last weekend.
Former classmates came from the United States, UK and all parts of Ireland to meet up once again.
At a special welcoming event at the college, they were welcomed by Damien McCroary, Principal of St. Eunan’s College and and Edward Harvey, St. Eunan’s College Alumni.
After a remembrance Mass celebrated by Monsignor Kevin Gillespie for the past students and teachers of their year, the former students were brought back to the college’s Study Hall for refreshments and an opportunity to share some memories.
The main organisers of the reunion were Eugene Kavanagh (now living in Kildare) who was a young boarder from Arranmore, together with Patrick McTeague, Gerard Mullen, Paul Doherty and John McDaid (who travelled from the United States).
The day was a great day success with a guided tour also prompting much laughter and memories. Many teachers attended and good wishes were sent from afar.
Some of the teachers made long journeys to be there including John Friel, Noel Tierney and John McGroddy.
The school’s Scholarship Fund was greatly supported by the former students and Ms. Yvonne Doherty (Careers Dept.) expressed her delight for the support she received for the careers day from the former students.
