NEWLY elected Councillor Declan Meehan called for clarity around Milford Health Centre this week.
At Tuesday’s Regional Health Forum West meeting, he asked to know from the HSE’s Saolta Group when the new Primary Care Milford facility, which has been granted planning permission, might be opened for patient use.
The new building will incorporate primary care services such as Occupational Therapy, Physio Therapy and a Day Centre. He also wanted a full breakdown of the clinical spaces and services available there.
In a written response Joe Hoare, Assistant National Director, HSE Capital and Estates stated a need has been identified to relocate Older Persons Day Services and Physiotherapy services from Ramelton Community Hospital.
“Work has been underway to identify what options might be available to provide these services from an alternative location. A facility in Milford has been identified as an option and discussions have taken place with the landlord in this regard,” he said.
“Any proposed lease arrangement will be subject to national approval. There would also be a requirement for fit out works prior to occupancy. The process needs to be advanced further over the coming period before a time frame for availability of any such facility can be advised.”
