Donegal music icons Clannad continue to leave their mark on global cinema, with their stunning Coinleach Glas An Fhómhair featuring on the soundtrack of a newly released film starring Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell.

A Big Bold Beautiful Journey is a romantic fantasy directed by acclaimed filmmaker Kogonada.

In a social media post, Clannad announced the inclusion of their song in the Hollywood film’s soundtrack.

Formed in 1970 in Dore, Clannad was founded by Moya Brennan and her brothers Ciarán and Pól, alongside their twin uncles Noel and Pádraig Duggan.

The group’s ethereal take on traditional Irish music gained international acclaim in the early 1980s with their breakthrough theme for the Yorkshire Television mini-series Harry’s Game.

Over the decades, Clannad has become one of the country’s most successful musical exports.

Their work has featured in major film productions, including The Last of the Mohicans and they scored a hit with In a Lifetime, a duet with U2’s Bono.

With Grammy and BAFTA awards and numerous other accolades to their name, the band was honoured with the Freedom of Donegal in 2024, marking over 50 years of extraordinary contribution to music.
