CIARAN Coll, the Finn Harps left back, hopes to get the green light today to be reintegrated back into full training with the club this week.

The 21-year old St Johnston man has not played competitively since picking up a knee injury in pre-season.

Coll tore cartilage in his knee during the pre-season friendly against Sligo Rovers at The Showgrounds.

The player travels to Belfast today to link up with the renowned knee specialist Chris Connolly, who worked with Coll when he sustained a cruciate ligament injury in late 2009.

“Ciaran goes to see the specialist on Monday for his final check-up. He started training again this week, so hopefully he’s not too far away,” the Harps manager, Peter Hutton, told the Donegal News.

His return would be a big boost for a Harps side that, following Friday’s 1-0 defeat at Athlone Town, has not now won in three games, though the reversal in the Midlands was their first loss of the campaign.

Sean McCarron and Thomas McMonagle also sat out that game through injury.

Hutton said: “The boys are making good progress. Next week might be too soon, but they’re making progress so hopefully we will have them soon.”

Harps face two home games in succession. Salthill Devon are in Ballybofey this Friday for a game that marks the end of the first quarter of the season before Waterford United come to Finn Park the following Friday night.
