TWO arrests have been made in connection with the murder of a 67-year-old man in the Churchill area on Sunday, gardai confirmed yesterday (Thursday).
Gardaí were called to the home of Seamus Doherty at Drumacanoo, Glenswilly, in the early hours of Sunday morning and were initially treating the case as a sudden death. However, State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy was alerted to the case on Monday and following a post mortem carried out on Tuesday afternoon, the inquiry was upgraded to murder.
It is understood that the post mortem revealed new injuries to Mr Doherty’s neck and that his death was due to strangulation.
