Los Angeles based Marcel Wilson is visiting An Chead Ghlúin Eile, an Irish language summer college located in Bun a’ Leaca, Gaoth Dobhair in July where he will be teaching dance moves to the kids.
As a dancer Wilson has performed with Christina Aguilera, Janet Jackson, Beyonce, Whitney Houston plus many more over the years.
As a choreographer he and his brother Kevin have worked on Dancing With She Stars, with Wayne Brady, America’s Got Talent with Team i-luminate and have a three-year running show held at the Rio Hotel Casino resort in Vegas.
“I am really excited to be coming to the college to teach the kids and share my talents with them.
“I am in the process of learning how to count in Gaelic which is proving to be more difficult than I anticipated but Gavin has been helping me with pronouncing it correctly and with spelling. Maybe the kids can teach me a thing or two in Irish while I’m there.”
Wilson is coming to the Gaeltacht college, which runs from 1st July – 21st July, thanks to the invitation of Gweedore’s own Gavin Ó Fearraigh, former star of Ros na Rún.
The LA based actor and former winner of RTÉ Jigs’n’Reels has been running the Irish language school in his native Bun a’ Leaca for the past four years and has always offered something unique to his students.
“Having different activities from acting workshops with Ros na Rún actors, martial arts, paint balling to Hip Hop encourages the students to enjoy learning the language through these mediums and we are now excited to welcome such a renowned choreographer and dancer who has kindly agreed to pay us a visit. Those enrolled for this years course are in for a rare treat,” said Gavin.
