Cheque presented to Ards Friary after fundraisers

MORE than €11,000 has been raised for refurbishment plans at Ards Friary, thanks to a series of successful fundraisers organised by the Creeslough community.

On Easter Monday, a Coffee Morning and a Vintage Car and Tractor Run were held in memory of the late Patrick Morgan, a beloved vintage enthusiast.

The event drew a large crowd and raised an impressive €4,600. Patrick’s sister Bernadette and her family attended and were deeply touched by the support and turnout.

As a follow-up event, a Golf Classic and Raffle took place at Dunfanaghy Golf Club on Friday, April 25.

Despite poor weather conditions, the community once again showed strong support, raising an additional €6,575.

Organisers expressed their heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to both events.

“None of this would have been possible without the help of so many people,” they said.

Special thanks were extended to the many sponsors, to Majella and Stephen for providing the use of the Hub in Creeslough and to Dunfanaghy Golf Club for the use of their facilities.

They also thanked all those who attended, emphasising, “Without your presence, our fundraisers would not have been as successful as they were.”

The organisers also recognised the efforts of the Creeslough Walking Group and other local women who brought food on Easter Monday morning, as well as Bannceoil Cloughaneely who supplied food. Gratitude was also extended to the Friars of Ards Friary for their help during the coffee morning.

A special mention was given to the Ferry family, whose support played a key role in making the tribute to Patrick Morgan such a success.
