Charity truck show and family fun day in Raphoe on Saturday

DONEGAL Vintage and Working Day Association are holding a charity Truck Show and Strongman competition on Saturday, May 20 at the grounds of Raphoe Livestock Mart.
This year’s charity partners include local Mental Health Charities and Alzheimer’s Donegal.
Admission on the day is €5 for an adult, €3 for under 16, FREE for children under 10 and €15 for a family ticket (two adults including up to three children).
With plenty to see on the day from trucks and vintage cars to tractors, it is sure to be an unmissable event.
There will be jiving with Paul McCahill from 7:30pm in a bid to get the crowd warmed up as much more entertainment follows into the night.
When night falls, Jimmy Buckley and his band will take to the stage to provide entertainment as the crowds dance the night away.
A sheep shearing competition will also take place on the day in conjunction with this fundraising event.
The sheep shearing event, organised by Mark Magee, involves five different grades, the Donegal Grade, the Junior Grade, the Intermediate Grade, the Senior Grade and the Open Grade.
Up to 500 to 600 sheep are expected to be clipped.
People are expected to come from all over Ireland for this event.
Local companies have shown their support by sponsoring the event and they include Clonleigh Co-op, Britons Insurance, Letterkenny Acitivity Centre, Edward Brown Farm Advisor Raphoe, Mulroy Vetinary Group, Raphoe Hardware, East Donegal Lamb Producer Group, Hendersons Garage Raphoe, Raymond Toland Wools, Gibsons farm Services, Longhorn Shearing, Gmg Logos and James Dunne Livestock Haulage.
