A CONVOY mother whose baby died when he was four months old is raising money for a charity set up to support bereaved parents to mark her son’s one year anniversary.
Donna Robinson (34) from Convoy lost her four-month old son Theo on October 26, 2020.
Theo was born five weeks premature and spent many week in the Neonatal Unit in Letterkenny University Hospital.
As its coming up to the anniversary, Donna decided to do something in his memory so she has organised a 5k and a raffle with all proceeds going to Féileacáin Stillbirth and Neonatal Association of Ireland.
Speaking to the Donegal News, she said, “On October 26 2020, my beautiful baby boy Theo gained his angel wings. He left an imprint in my heart that I will never forget and I chose Féileacáin Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Association of Ireland as it is a non-profit charity set up by bereaved parents,” she said.
The charity delivers memory boxes to every maternity ward in Ireland and when Theo died she received a beautiful memory box which she said she will treasure forever.
“They also have a helpline service available and offer counselling services which is a great help to any parent that has suffered the loss of a child,” said Donna.
Donna is holding the 5K on Sunday, meeting at Convoy Athletics Club at 1.30pm with the run starting at 2.30pm. Participants are asked to wear something blue for Theo.
A major raffle with prizes from over 75 local businesses will be held after the run and lines for the raffle are on sale from Donna.
So far, the fundraiser has raised over €4,000 and Donna said she was delighted with the support she has received.
