A Donegal LGFA championship tie was held up for over an hour on Sunday morning after a player sustained a serious injury.
The match was between St. Michaels and Letterkenny Gaels at The Bridge in Dunfanaghy in the Junior B Championship. It was well into the second half when a St. Michael’s player suffered a serious knee injury.
While the player received treatment on the field, the match referee, Pat Barrett called a temporary halt to proceedings and an ambulance was called.
The player was taken away to Letterkenny University Hospital and over an hour after play was stopped, the game eventually resumed and the final 15 minutes of the game were played.
St. Michael’s, who had been leading by a point when the game was stopped, held onto that lead and won the match by 1-07 to 0-9.
