The Donegal Competitions Controls Committee will await referee Val Murray’s report from last night’s IFC semi-final clash between Naomh Columba and Gaeil Fhánada before deciding what approach to take to ugly scenes that marred the ending of the game.
The Glen men won through to the decider following a 4-11 to 2-9 victory at MacCumhaill Park, Ballybofey. The contest itself was played in a very sporting manner.
However, when the full-time whistle did signal, a flash point on the stand side of the venue resulted in both sets of players becoming involved with each other.
The Donegal News understands that an allegation of ‘sledging’ is what sparked the incident.
The Donegal CCC haven’t yet been furnished with the referee’s report from the contest. That will be with the secretary of the CCC inside the next 48 hours.
