Cause of blaze at St Johnston business yet unknown

A significant fire broke out at an industrial premises in St Johnston on Saturday night, prompting a major response from the fire service.

The blaze is reported to have began shortly after 10pm at the Fleming Steel complex, located in the Dundee area just off the village’s Main Street. The premises houses a number of businesses associated with the Fleming Steel group.

Six fire units were dispatched to the scene, where crews worked through the night to bring the flames under control. Thick black smoke was visible from the complex as the fire took hold.

Local Gardaí also attended the incident. There have been no reports of injuries and the cause of the fire is not yet known.

While investigations are ongoing, initial indications suggest that foul play is not suspected.
