Work to resume on new emegency department next week


WORK on the new €22 million, 72-bed medical unit and emergency department at Letterkenny General Hospital recommences on Monday with the new facility expected to open in March.

Minister of State for Health Kathleen Lynch TD is due in Letterkenny on Monday week to officially open the hospital’s new €5.9 million Psychiatric Unit and she is expected to formally announce the opening date for the new A&E facility.

A LETTERKENNY man who was arrested following a stabbing incident outside Voodoo nightclub, Main Street on August 14 was remanded on continuing bail at yesterday, Thursday’s sitting of the Letterkenny District Court.


Plans for €4m development at LGH

PLANS are being made for a new €4 million medical training school in Letterkenny. The Donegal News learned yesterday (Thursday) that senior officials in the HSE along with senior businessmen and friends of the hospital are putting the plans in place to build a comprehensive medical education and research facility at Letterkenny General Hospital. NUIG is to contribute €2 million towards the overall cost.
