Castlefinn woman is Donegal’s newest solicitor

A CASTLEFINN woman has become Donegal’s newest solicitor.

Elaine Dullaghan, Carricknashane, Castlefinn, was welcomed to her new role by her fellow practitioners, Judge Éiteáin Cunningham and An Garda Síochána at Letterkenny District Court on Monday.

Ms Dullaghan joined Barron O’Donnell LLP, Ballybofey in July 2019 for two weeks experience.

She continued as a trainee with Barron O’Donnell LLP and is now solicitor with Barron O’Donnell LLP.

A former pupil of Gleneely National School, Killygordon, Ms Dullaghan received her secondary education in St Columba’s College, Stranorlar.

She received a First Class Honours LLB from Maynooth University and a First Class Honours Masters in Global Legal Studies (international law) also in Maynooth University.

She started Hybrid PPC in Law Society in December 2021.

Finished PPC II in November 18, 2023.

Ms Dullaghan was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors on February 15, 2024.

Ms Dullaghan was in court with her proud parents, Tommy and Caroline and her fiancé Niall McCloskey.

Solicitor Kieran O’Gorman welcomed Ms Dullaghan on behalf of the legal profession, and said she will be very well supported in her new role.

On behalf of An Garda Síochánan Sergeant Jim Collins said: “I would like to welcome Ms Dullaghan. We will have many battles but they will always be on the pitch, never off the pitch,” he said.

Judge Éiteáin Cunningham also extended her warm wishes.

“I am sure this is a very proud day for you and your parents,” Judge Cunningham said, addressing Ms Dullaghan.

She added: “I have no doubt she has learned a lot from Barron O’Donnell LLP practice. She is an excellent candidate to introduce to District Number One. You can be assured of assistance from the courts staff and An Garda Síochána, and I wish you every success.”

Addressing the court, Ms Dullaghan said she was excited about her new role.

“Thank you all for your very kind words. I look forward to working with everyone in the future.”
