GAOTH Dobhair Community Centre is to receive a cash boost of 7,000 euro, it has been announced.
Welcoming the allocation, Minister Joe McHugh said, “This grant support of €6,897 is helping to support a community project and develop their work on the ground in Gaoth Dobhair.
“The money has been secured through the Leader programme which is all about community projects in rural areas and ensuring they local organisations have the backing they need in their area.
“Coiste Forbartha Dhobhair and all those involved with Ionad Naomh Pádraig will use the money to help pay for a moveable stage in the community centre.
“Securing funding like this is a brilliant way to kick off the New Year for any community group but particularly for Gaoth Dobhair and the certainty that all those behind the project can see some of their ambitious plans for the centre come to life.
“The project is expected to cost about €10,000 in total, so to see Leader stump up about 70% of the final bill is a real testament to how valuable it will be for the local community.”
