A Strabane school has benefitted from a fundraising ‘drive’ organised by a Lifford businessman.
Over £1,300 and more than 200 toys were gathered for Knockavoe School in Strabane through Keith ‘Bear’ Gamble’s ‘Cars and Coffee Morning’.
The event, which Keith has been running for four years at Applegreen in Lifford, sees car enthusiasts congregate to marvel at a fleet of high-end, super vehicles while also donating to a worthy cause.

Such has been the success of the shows, they have been expanded out into the ‘Bear Run’, a weekend of driving which takes a convoy of cars through Donegal.
Keith said, “Charity has always run in our family. My dad was a very charitable man, raising money over many years. He unfortunately passed away at age 74, hence the name Bear Run 74 in his honour. There are people worse off than us this Christmas, especially with the cost of living crisis looming over everyone. So I wanted to give something back.
“Special needs charities are something which are very close to my heart because of my elder brother and I saw this as a perfect way to honour him and keep the legacy of giving in the family going.”
Much to the delight of staff and pupils, Keith recently presented the toys and money to Knockavoe.
“It was very heartening to see the joy on the children’s faces when I presented the toys. And the joy I got from seeing their faces was amazing.
“I’m delighted that the morning was able to raise so much, the generosity of people was immense. Not bad for a wee man from Lifford.”
