Carndonagh protest cancelled

A planned protest by defective block campaigners in Carndonagh today has been cancelled.

The event was pulled after Donegal County Council closed the town’s public services building, essentially blocking a planned occupation.

Campaigner Paddy Diver said though that the gathering will go ahead tomorrow instead.

“It will be continuing tomorrow,” he said.

“This building has been closed for the first time in 20 years, staff have been sent home.

“But at the same time, we are not just here campaigning for the sake of campaigning. This was to prevent a tragedy, civil disobedience to prevent a tragedy for these family homes.

“But we are not going to stop because they closed the building today, it is going to continue on to tomorrow and if they close it tomorrow we will go to Lifford next week.”
