Jonny Carlin netted on his Wicklow debut against Wexford in the O’Byrne Cup on Tuesday night.
The former Red Hugh’s man played the first half for the Garden County and scored a penalty, firing into the bottom corner to give his side a 1-4 to 0-4 lead.
But Wexford would soon get control in the game and ran out emphatic winners by 4-15 to 2-12 at the Ferns Centre of Excellence.
Carlin is playing for Barndarrig in Wicklow and scored a late penalty to help the club team win the Wicklow Intermediate Championship in October.
An electrical issue at Chadwicks Wexford Park forced the game to be switched to the Centre of Excellence in Ferns and throw-in didn’t take place until 9pm.
