Careful now! Ardal O’Hanlon at the helm of Arranmore Ferry

THERE was delight in Burtonport over the weekend as Father Ted star Ardal O’Hanlon visited the area.

Ardal O’Hanlon is famous for his hilarious role as Fr Dougal Maguire.

During a recent visit to Donegal, he was promoted to skipper and was pictured at the helm of Arranmore Ferry on Sunday as he headed for Arranmore Island.

The delighted ferry crew posted, “New Skipper in town on The Red Arranmore Ferry.

“We had to keep reminding him that “It’s not Craggy Island it’s Arranmore Island, Dougal.

“The trip was so fast from Arranmore that we never got the chance to pour the tea, poor Fr Dougal that wouldn’t happen if Mrs.Doyle was with him”

After a busy sailing, Ardal called into Harbour Front Cafe Burtonport for a much needed cup of tea.
