Car owners urged to step up security

GARDAÍ are calling on all car owners to step up security measures in the wake of two break-ins last weekend.

A car had been parked in the car park at Dunree beach on Saturday, July 12 between 4.15pm and 7pm.

When the owner returned she discovered that the front passenger window had been smashed.

A grey Marks & Spencer shoulder bag, covered with a cardigan, and contents including a black Hermes wallet, a medical card, bank card, an ID card and a small amount of cash had been stolen from the foot well of the car.

In the second incident, a car was parked along the hard shoulder at Lisfannon beach on the same date between 7.30pm and 8.10pm, during which time the passenger side window was smashed.

A black handbag and its contents, including a number of bank cards, an ID card, a substantial amount of sterling cash and a Northern Irish driving licence that had been left in the foot well was stolen.

Anyone who observed suspicious activity at either of those locations on that date, or if they can assist with any type of information, is asked to contact Gardaí in Buncrana on (074) 9320540.
