THERE are major disruptions on one of the county’s busiest roads this evening (Sunday) after a crash involving a 40ft articulated lorry and a car.
Gardai confirmed to the Donegal News, there were no serious injuries but a woman, who had been driving the car was taken to hospital.
The driver of the lorry escaped without injury. The accident happened between 5.30 and 6pm about 200 yards on the Letterkenny side of the well known Rosgier Inn, on the outskirts of Lifford. Ambulances along with gardai rushed to the scene and the scene was immediately cordoned off.
Traffic was diverted on the Letterkenny side of the accident in the direction of Ballindrait while vehicles travelling from Lifford were being directed towards Porthall and St Johnston.
“There were no life theatening serious injuries,” a garda spokesman told the Donegal News.
“We’re appealing for anyone with information to contact Gardai in Lifford,” the spokesman added.
One local who came across the scene spoke of how there was major tailbacks.
“It was serious enough and the road was blocked for some time,” he said.
“I just told as many people as I could to avoid the main from Lifford to letterkenny just after Rosgeir,” he added.
